Blossom Laundry Starch
This is one of the most basic types of starches which have been used for centuries. This timeless starch will meet your basic needs. Perfect for everyday starching of cottons and linens. A great finish for petticoats, collars and cuffs, shirt fronts, and the like. These starches are not specific to one time period, because they have been on hand though-out history. Starches like these would have been readily available to all housewives from the 18th century onward
Ingredients: Wheat Starch, Potato Starch
The approximate 2.5 ounces of starch powder yields 2 gallons of liquid for dresses, shirtwaists, petticoats, and whatever else you might like to starch.
Directions: Grab a bowl and slowly dissolve a few tablespoons of water into the starch to make a paste. Make sure it is free of lumps. In a saucepan being 1 qt of water to a boil, slowly add paste mixture and boil for 15 minutes. Stirring constantly. This is the mixture you world from. Next, after it is cooled dilute the starch to your desired consistency.
